Siège social CSN

In order to bring all of its Greater Montreal employees together under one roof, CSN needed to double the size of its head office. The project took place in two phases: the re-development of the existing building, plus the construction of an extension on the adjacent site – in all, a 100,000 sq. ft. building spread over 4 floors to meet their space needs.

Based on the longstanding tradition of exchange and dialogue in trade unions, the architecture revolved around the concept of meetings. With this in mind, conference rooms and meeting rooms were laid out around a vast gathering space overhung by an atrium.
In parallel, numerous existing closed offices required large windows. The optimal solution: orient the first series of offices towards the exterior, and a second series towards the atrium. Each office thus benefiting from an abundance of natural light.

The expansion was made into the parking lot, thus making it necessary to relocate the lost spaces, as well as add new ones. As a result, a decision was made to create a 5-floor underground parking garage, and create a park at the street level, in order to create more green space for the neighborhood
