Montreal has five Centres Intégrés Universitaires de Santé et de Services Sociaux (CIUSSS), offering a full range of care and services through the healthcare organizations that comprise each respective CIUSSS. In 2020 NEUF created the centre serving Montreal’s West Island, as a complement to the Centre-Ouest, Centre-Sud, Nord and Est networks.

Like its counterparts, the CIUSSS Ouest offers medical services to the local population through various hospitals, CLSCs, shelters, rehabilitation centres and youth centres. The network also coordinates administration of activities relating to university teaching and research, marshalling the creative forces and knowledge of researchers and civilian stakeholders to develop new understanding and approaches and influence public policy.
Our teams incorporated their design approach into this fundamental philosophy, in order to develop a tool that was capable of supporting the research centre’s objectives of quality and innovation. Located between Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau international airport and the Transcanadian Highway, CIUSSS Ouest combines pragmatic and considered organization with bright and airy spaces. Its surroundings are courtesy of the landscape architect Dubuc, who delivered a sober and efficient landscape design in keeping with the architectural project.
